About

SAMSARA is the Hindu word for the cycle of birth and rebirth. With each rebirth of a poem through the art of revision, and with each new generation of poets, there is an attempt to get words closer to the reality of emotion and human experience. It's just like the spiritual search for enlightenment, but within the context of human language. SAMSARA Magazine of Poetry showcases poetry that explores human emotion and experience on a higher, more enlightened level. SAMSARA poetry focuses on the significance of images and metaphors, for through these things the bigger picture can be grasped.

Matthew Trotter (top right) came up with the idea for the independent publication, SAMSARA Magazine of Poetry, in February 2008. He serves as editor of the magazine and is working with various poets and artists to put together the inaugural issue. He expects to publish the first issue of SAMSARA by November 2008.

Matthew has been published in SIECUS REPORT and The Pacific Index. When he's not working on SAMSARA, he's working as an assistant editor for Silk Road literary magazine, or attending classes at Pacific University.
