To submit poetry to SAMSARA:

Poetry submissions should capture the feeling of what it is to live and experience life, from the good things to the bad. The utilization of rich images and metaphors helps the reader understand the subject matter on the same level as the poet. SAMSARA poetry is about expressing human experience through words. Poems should be concious of how rhyme, meter, and other attributes of poetry affect the reader emotionally.
  • Submit no more than 5 poems in a single submission.
  • A single poem should be no more than 200 lines in length.
  • Poetry manuscripts should be submitted via e-mail in Microsoft Word (.doc), OpenOffice.org (.odt), or Rich-Text (.rtf) format.
  • Only one poem should appear on each page of the manuscript.
  • Poems longer than one page should include page numbers.
  • Manuscripts should include poets name and contact info (e-mail address at bare minimum, but poet is encouraged include address and phone number as well).
  • All pieces MUST be the original work of the individual submitting the manuscript, and that individual MUST have the rights to distribute the work.
  • Works must be in English or include an English translation (no more than 200 lines total).
  • Do NOT submit physical copies of your manuscript. Please help save the trees!
If your manuscript meets the above criteria, please send it via e-mail in one of the aforementioned formats to submissions@samsaramagazineofpoetry.com. Your submission should include a brief biography including any of the following, including your name, your geographic location, your education (including schools and degrees attained), your publishing history, up to three photos of yourself (headshots please), and facts about you or your writing that you would like your readers to know. You may also include a short blurb on the inspiration for or process behind each of your poems. Submit biography and all poetry as a single file (see example below).

NOTE: This is the first issue of the magazine, and publication is not yet gauranteed. Your submission will help us determine if it is feasible to publish the magazine and help us determine a timeline (currently set for publication in November 2008, but we may publish sooner or later depending on the submissions we recieve). Acceptance of one of your pieces does not guarantee publication. You will be contacted if publication will commence. If the success of the magazine allows for it, contributors may receive either complimentary copies of the issue in which their work appears, SAMSARA t-shirts, or cash payment. Regardless, you will receive credit in the magazine for your submissions and will thus increase your visibility as a poet.
